Just a quick note, we have internet again. Even those that paid the $20/day for Internet were unhappy, really slow, probably Hughes Net! We got off the ship at 6:30 this morning, evidently if you pack your luggage off you must leave between 6:30 and 7. I think they had everyone off by 9 or 9:30. We took the cruise ship shuttle back to the port entrance, only they drop you off further in than they pick you up. So it was further to the train station than when we arrived. My train tickets were for 11:30 train, but the ticket lady said we could use our passes to go earlier on the rapid train to Rome. Got there by 9am and had a light breakfast, and tried to put minutes on my UK phone. No luck, so phone is not working. Could have the original UK people put minutes on it but cannot remember the EBay password. Has not worked most of the time anyway. Mostly operator error.
We took the train to Orvieto, arrived at around 3. Had lunch on the square, then found our room. Franchisca is our landlady for our apartment. Cute ground floor, but the bedroom is a loft up a spiral staircase. Bathroom on ground floor. Her family turns out works with wood, and donee large scroll work, some like puzzle pieces.
