Thursday, World War 2 Memorial

Last day aboard Viking. Did not go on Black Forest tour, instead wandered around a small town, Breisach, Germany. There was a old church on a hill in town, walked up to it. Then in the afternoon took a tour of the comer pocket in Alanse France. We were shown where the American, French, and German troops were. Some of towns were totally flattened. The only place for the Americans and the villagers were the underground wine cellars. The actor Audie Murphy held off the Germans in this area. We visited a well done museum in a wine cellar.
All that was left of this church was tihis wally
So it became a memorial to civilians. And local soldiers. On top is a storks nest.
